Grant and Gordon have spent
the last couple of weeks looking into the feasibility of this build-up. A lot
of pencil sketching, information hunting and realistic evaluation was involved.
In short this needs to be an entire car build-up from the ground up, chassis
and the lot just as a custom race car would be constructed. Obviously we still
have some way to go in research, but we have seen enough, and know enough to
know that the project is very realistic and achievable.
We can build it. The Interceptor replica build-ups have established us with enough credibility and engineering connections to do this.
We estimate the build-up
time to be approximately 1 year, but quality would not be compromised to meet a
production target, so the right to a degree of time flexibility would need to
remain with Gordon and Grant as constructors.
The car would be outwardly the same to look at operational hydraulic air- foils… everything, however in order to deliver more than the film cars 110 MPH top speed we would build the replica with 460 Ford Big Block power and we would be looking toward 140-150 MPH top end. Some features like the shifting driver position would not be available, certainly the viewing of the DVD extras indicate that this function was not available on actual functioning and driving film car, like wise we understand that the complexity of the film cars roof opening system was confined to a non-driving replica. So some improvisation would be required.
