In Australia we have a saying for someone or something that is honest and
genuinely Australian. That is to say Australian down to the dust and red
dirt. The saying refers to an object or person authentically Australian in
both image and character, and that saying is "True Blue." "True Blue" is this GT, a "True Blue" Australian
legend. The XW GT was born to compete in a 500 mile endurance motor race held each year in Bathurst
Australia. In the late 1960's and 1970's the Bathurst race became the yard
stick for the quality of the local motor industry, and the XW GT was to fulfill a destiny and win the Bathurst event.
Such a win cements a car into Australian motoring history. So during the
Australian Saturday afternoon pub debates, a car that won Bathurst is always revered and respected.
So this XW GT has a heritage linked way back down to the roots of Australian
motor sport. A symbol of the golden era of both Australian motor sport and Australian no
speed limit motoring. |

This is a collector car, a "piece of history". Suitable for a collector, or a museum stand, or a die hard fan of Australian motoring history. The GT is in fact powered by a high performance 351 and today it is still a formable road car. The Cleveland V8 and the XW GT can eat up the miles at 80-100 MPH all day long. This car however gets little road use these days. It has been restored to its 1970's glory and lives in original condition factory showroom specification, as a testimony to days now past. The owner drove it to the photo shoot and it gets out to the local car shows and sunny summer outings. It still gets out and about, however it is protected form the streets and traffic most of the time. As the owner moves onto a family life, it is reluctantly offered for sale . |

As I said before, there is a lot of specifications and information on this GT, and all this can be supplied, but in brief detail it runs a 300 bhp 351 Cleveland V8. Although a Toploader currently resides as the transmission, a 3-speed FMX auto was factory on this beast, and will be returned to the car for sale. The carb is currently a Holley and the owner is happy to sell the car with the Holley in place. However to ensure the car is supplied factory authentic, you will receive the still operational factory stock carburetor with the car. Rear axle is a Ford 3.25:1 ratio, 9" limited slip diff. It also has 11.25" front disc brakes, and 10" rear drum brakes. Fuel tank capacity is 36 gallon (164 litres). |

When released in 1970, the Falcon GT was considered over the top with it's Super-roo kangaroo graphics and the Look-at-me side striping. Time was to judge both as hallmarks of the muscle car era. |
