One Boss Across…

At the end of last Summer I had an opportunity to head across to Victoria and check out this magnificent 1969 Boss Mustang replica. The purpose of the trip was to pick up the Mustang. The car as inspected was impeccable, low-slung, imposing, a legendary muscle car and it was superbly presented.
This classic
1969 Mustang was built with the shadow of legendary Australian racing
driver Alan Moffat's 1969 Mustang cast firmly over it ... it
had to have both that heavyweight Car Kraft pedigree stance and tarmac
tearing race breed Trans - Am pony car performance! The
completed replica has achieved that sledgehammer tough look and
provided that necessary kick between the shoulder blades performance...
this was no cheap restro.
No rail car, truck or trailer ride for this machine. Under the brothers instructions I got in and drove the car the 3500 plus Kilometres back to Kalgoorlie. The 351 base motor was stroked to 398 the powerplant was full of goodies supported by a 5 speed gearbox and tough 9 inch diff the Mustang preformed like I suspect it never did from the factory. All the 1969 suspension was gone, in its place was a full RRS kit front and rear. The car handled like it was from the Y2K era.
Out on the lonely Nullarbor plain I did give the 'stang a run. No place near flat out and it still touched 150 MPH with plenty of running left in it... What a ride this thing is. The Mustang essentialy on a shake down run crossed Australia without any significant issue. Always a 1969 Mustang fan it was the kind of drive you dream of as a kid, and never expect to live. | ||
